Shrimp

A simple, quick recipe for shrimp. I was hungry for lunch one day, and didn't have much lying around (which usually is the case). However, simple ingredients make for the best flavors, and a well stocked spice and herb rack is your secret to making any dish come to life.

Ingredients:
Shrimp, season with thyme, salt, pepper

Frozen vegetables, cherry tomatoes, chopped onions

Thick, Canadian bacon

Directions:
In a frying pan, place a small amount of olive oil and heat it up. Place bacon in pan, and let it sizzle for a while, and the juices start coming out. (You can also skip the bacon if you don't want the added fat, but I throw it in for flavor, not necessarily to eat).

Toss in the frozen veggies, and lightly sprinkle some salt and pepper on top. Stir and keep the veggies moving until they have de-frosted a bit, then throw in the tomatoes and onions. I don't like putting exact timing is my recipes because different pans and different heat affect this. It takes a bit of time and a few burnt steaks to develop a good sense for your pan and your fire. So watch (and smell!) the veggies. They should start giving off a great aroma.

Toss in the shrimp. Shrimp are one of my favorite proteins because they are easy to cook, and quick to cook. Cover for about 1min to let the whole dish steam a bit. Then stir until shrimp are a healthy pink color all the way through.

Serve with Cous Cous.
